Red Bull athlete Dougie Lampkin returned to action after last weekend's break, when he contested the now infamous Hell's Gate extreme enduro held in the Italian hills. Lampkin has a strong association with this unique competition having placed third during his debut back in 2009 and then winning it a year later, before finishing as runner-up twelve months ago.

Dougie Lampkin - Gas Gas came within touching distance of claiming a top ten finish at the third and final round of the 2012 FIM SuperEnduro World Championship held at the famous Palau Sant Jordi stadium in Barcelona, Spain. Having tasted success as a Trial rider in the same arena in the past, Lampkin was hoping for a happy return to this impressive sporting venue that once again welcomed a crowd of over ten thousand people.

Gas Gas factory rider Dougie Lampkin brought a close to a long and successful relationship with Sheffield indoor trial last night when he competed in his favourite event for the final time. Thirty-five year old Lampkin who has ridden in every single Sheffield event since its inception back in 1996, and has won a record eight times in the famous Yorkshire arena bowed out in style as he traded blows with his younger rivals one last time.

The King of Steel is set to take his final bow. Following a few previous aborted attempts to say goodbye, Dougie Lampkin - Gas Gas will finally bid farewell to Sheffield indoor trial on Saturday 7th January 2012, in what has now been confirmed as his last ever appearance at his favourite event. Lampkin has ridden in every Sheffield indoor trial since its inception in 1996, with the now thirty-five year old holding a record-breaking run of fifteen consecutive appearances and an unequalled eight successive wins over the last decade and a half.

Dougie Lampkin - Gas Gas once again showed gutsy determination as he rode through the pain barrier to record a top ten finish overall at the second round of the 2012 FIM SuperEnduro World Championship held at Lodz, Poland. The thirty-five year old veteran campaigner flew to Poland having been unable to ride his enduro bike since he sustained the injury to his chest at the opening round of the series in Italy two weeks ago. Lampkin under went treatment when he returned to the UK to rectify what was finally diagnosed as a misaligned rib.

Dougie Lampkin - Gas Gas was back to his winning ways as he triumphed at the Lagares Extreme Enduro in Portugal. The veteran campaigner who has been sidelined for most of this season due to an ongoing ankle injury, which he originally sustained back in May, used all his experience to top this gruelling event. Twelve times FIM Trial World Champion Lampkin has made a successful transition in to the sphere of extreme enduro after having already finished as runner-up this year at both Hell's Gate and Erzberg extreme enduros.

Despite still suffering from a serious injury picked up earlier this year, thirty-five year old Dougie Lampkin successfully held his World famous annual Master Class Trials School last week. Taking place over the 12/13/14 August, this was the thirteenth consecutive year that the ex multi FIM Trial World Champion has conducted his training sessions. As popular as ever, all three days were fully booked with eager riders who had travelled from as far afield as Australia and Cornwall to learn from the undisputed King of Trials.

Having first visited the Chichester based Goodwood estate in 2008, this is the third year that Dougie has featured at the annual celebration of motorsport.

Dougie Lampkin - Gas Gas finished second at the notorious Erzberg extreme enduro, held in Austria despite suffering from a serious ankle injury picked up back in May. Regarded by many as one of the toughest off-road events in the World even for fully fit riders, Dougie's achievement is even more incredible when he has not competed in an enduro competition since early February due to his SPEA FIM Trial World Championship commitments.

Twelve times FIM Trial World Champion Dougie Lampkin's appearance at the Spanish Trial Grand Prix, held at Pobladura de las Regueras, was very short lived as the thirty-five year old was forced to retire after just three sections. Lampkin crashed heavily on the third steep and dusty hazard and in doing so aggravated his on going ankle injury, which was originally sustained at the Scottish Six Days Trial back in early May. Dougie missed both days of the French GP in an attempt to be fit for this round, but in the end circumstances transpired against him once again.

The UK round of the 2011 SPEA FIM Trial World Championship is thundering towards us at an almighty pace, with the planet's best riders due to stop off at Nevis Range, Fort William on 30/31 July.
