CAROLE NASH MCN MOTORCYCLE SHOW
LONDON, GREAT BRITAIN - 03 TO 06 FEBRUARY 2011
FRIDAY 14/01/11
Twelve times FIM Trial World Champion Dougie Lampkin - Gas Gas will line up against a host of motorcycle legends as he takes his place in what is being billed as 'the greatest bike show on earth' and which is aptly named 'revolution'. Lampkin who will be a leading challenger in the 2011 SPEA FIM Trial World Championship and the 2011 FIM Indoor Enduro World Championship wlil take time out from his hectic competition schedule to be at Excel, London to be included in the incredible live entertainment planned as part of the Carole Nash MCN Motorcycle Show that will take place from 3rd to 6th of February inclusive.
In just over two weeks time thirty-four year old Lampkin from Yorkshire will pit his skill against fellow two wheel legends such as Kevin Schwantz, Freddie Spencer, Randy Mamola, Franki Chili, John McGuinness and Neil Hodgson. This star studded line up will be part of 'revolution' which is the World's first motorcycle performance that pits top-class riders against each other on different machines across trials type obstacles. Think 70’s TV Shows Superstars and Kickstart combined and you will get the idea. Add to that floor and aerial stunt shows with The Fuel Girls for a bit of glamour, the key 2011 bikes, manufacturers and hundreds of retail stands and you have got a show not to be missed.
Whilst primarily recognised for his trials achievements, Dougie has diversified in more recent years and has now also established himself as one of the World's leading extreme enduro riders especially after winning last season's notoriously tough Hell's Gate event in Italy. Lampkin's wealth of combined off road skills should put him in good shape as he looks to uphold dirt bike honours against his road race opponents. Although no World titles will be at stake when Dougie clashes with the tarmac titans in London, under no circumstances does that mean that the rivalry will not be as fierce as ever as these guys are neither happy or comfortable with losing.
Speaking about taking part in 'revolution' Lampkin said. "It is always great to have the opportunity to do something a bit different, so I am really looking forward to getting to London in a couple of weeks time and seeing what they have in store for us. Obviously I am the only off road rider amongst the road boys so I am hoping that they are not going to gang up on me and start bringing team tactics into play."
"With the exception of Freddie Spencer and Frankie Chili, I know the other riders." Dougie explained. "I once met Kevin Schwantz at a Trial Grand Prix in America, he seemed like a really cool guy who had a genuine interest in our slow speed sport. I have already seen Randy Mamola in action on a trials bike at an event we did at the F1 GP in Valencia, so I know what to expect from him."
"Both McGunniess and Hodgson have got off road experience and like to play around on dirt, so they could be dangerous, especially as Neil never knows when he is beaten. Although you should never focus on your rivals, I will be watching out for Neil, as although we are good friends I know he will do anything to win."
In his typical dry Yorkshire style Lampkin rounded off by stating. "In my World there's no such thing as fun, as long as the other guys realise i will be there to win, then we should all have a great time!"
