DOUGIE LAMPKIN - A MAN ON A MISSION
MANCHESTER - GREAT BRITAIN
WEDNESDAY 27/04/11

Thirty-three year old Red Bull athlete Dougie Lampkin has been a man in demand over the last few weeks . His action packed schedule has seen him wow crowds at George White’s ‘The Blast’ show onboard his Gas Gas trials machine in Swindon and then travel on to Zelhem...
in Holland to hold a dedicated trials school with the Zelhem Trials Club. As well as this Dougie has been training hard for the forthcoming Scottish Six Days Trial due to start this coming Monday.

“It has been a busy couple of weeks, but I’ve enjoyed the variety of riding. The George White ‘Blast’ show was really good fun, we had great weather and the crowd enjoyed the whole event. Some times it is nice to perform in a slightly more relaxed atmosphere, where I am not under the stress and strains of competition,” commented Dougie.

After returning to the UK for a short stint of SSDT preparation Dougie and his father Martin hit the road for Zelhem, Holland. Having not visited the trials park since over a decade ago Dougie received a warm welcome from nearly one hundred enthusiastic and eager pupils. Over the next three days the twelve times FIM Trial World champion tutored riders of all different levels of ability.

“Last week I travelled out to Holland with my dad for a kind of training weekend, which also included some competition. We taught ninety-eight riders in total over three days so it was all systems go, but really rewarding – a lot of the riders came on leaps and bounds. The facility consists of man made, purpose built sections of all different difficulties - it was good to be back as I hadn’t visited the venue since 1999, so it was great to see all the work they had done. They are going to be using many of the sections we used for a round of the UEM Trials Championship in 2012, which should be brilliant,” said the ex World champion.

Trials fanatic and Dougie Lampkin supporter Hans Bornebroek had this to say after the event; “Thank you for the fabulous time spent in Zelhem this weekend. Since then my mother has spoken about you continuously – I think you have a new fan! You and your father are both warm-hearted and interested in other people – you are truly a great example for human kind. Thank you for spending time with my sons, they have a newfound enthusiasm for trials, as I’m sure do many others.”
